Being fearless in the pursuit...
One of my favorite quotes is, “Be fearless in the pursuit of
what sets your soul on fire.”
Over the past two years, I strived to live out this quote.
Whether its with Fearless Movement expanding its horizon, reaching more souls
through our social media accounts, my career ambitions, or pageantry. I have to
say, it has not been easy to be fearless in the pursuit of what sets my soul on
fire.
What ever it is that sets your soul on fire, it involves
time and work to succeed at it or through it. You are constantly compared to others. In my case, Fearless
Movement gets compared to other non-profit/not-for-profit organizations. My
career ambitions are compared to the job industry as in how competitive it is
out there today with art and how do I stand out compared to the others applying
for the job, and the same thing goes for pageantry of course. They all involve competition.
Many would say everything in life is a competition, but I beg to differ.
To truly be fearless, you have to choose to look at a different
perspective. Not everything in life is a competition, and even if it “looks”
that way, find a new perspective. While
creating and being the CEO of Fearless Movement, being a psychology/art student,
and a pageant contestant in the Miss America Organization, the word competition
is used a lot. It’s hard to not compare yourself, right? We’re all human, and we
all have done it once or twice (or maybe three times) but comparison is the thief of joy,
and in no way will you succeed by
doing so in WHATEVER you are trying to accomplish. There will always be someone
who is great but just because they’re great or their organization is
successful, they already have a paid internship/job or have won a title, does
that make you not great?
No it does not make
you, not great. Because you are.
You are destined for great things but as long as you keep comparing yourselves
to others, you will never succeed. Take
my word on that. I have learned from my mistakes of comparison and all it has
accomplished, was stealing my joy.
As Fearless Movement events approach, as this blog will be
posted along with many other posts on our social media accounts, while
working to become the next amazing Art Therapist in a children’s hospital, one
day running my own practice, and pageant season quickly approaching in 11 days…
(That was a mouth full) I’m choosing to
love the person I am and the path God designed for me. Whether you believe
God controls your destiny, the universe, or yourself… do you love who you are? Do
you love certain qualities about yourself? Or do you find yourself
constantly comparing your qualities and ambitions to others and their success..
Well first, It’s not
about them. It’s about who YOU ARE.
I am more than glad I’ve learned this over the past years. I may have made
mistakes to learn this, but that’s why I am sharing it with you today. So that second,
you do not have to make the same
mistakes. Do you want to be fearless? One of our mission statements is, “Fear
holds you back from impeccable things. Drop fear, gain courage.” Do not allow
those fears of not being as good as the next person, hold you back from amazing
opportunities. You are good enough, you
are amazing, and you are ABLE. Once you let go of comparison and fear, you
will truly be fearless, happy and successful.
I cannot wait to hear about your success.
