When you feel like you're not strong enough

There has been MANY times especially in the past 6 months where I have felt defeated and not enough. No matter how many good things occurred in my life, it didn’t matter in my mind. I heard a quote that said, “I'm like a visitor in my own mind.” That summed up the past few months for sure.

I’ve always promised to be as transparent as possible with my readers and I want you to do the same in your life.

While i was feeling down, letting my mind win, feeling like a visitor, not defining the situation and allowing the situations to define me, God still used me in others lives without me even knowing it.

The past few years, I’ve invested time into a friendship with Sarah Chowning. Sarah is brave, resilient and beyond intelligent. Sarah was also diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of 13 — just as I was.

One of my first speaking engagements as the Founder of Fearless Movement was about 3 years ago. I spoke at an Epilepsy Support Group about my story and how I have overcome the fear that comes with Epilepsy. We lit our fears on fire to put our words into action of actually overcoming our fears — rising above and fighting back.

From then on, Sarah and I try to get coffee or ice cream at least once a month. She’s a busy student and so am I! So we try to meet every so often to catch up. While both of us have been so busy within the past few months, we haven’t met.

Even though we haven’t met, we still try to text every so often. Her mom texted me a video of Sarah speaking at her church on fear and my eyes couldn’t help but fill up with tears of joy, humility, and of a proud friend and mentor.

When I first met Sarah, she was afraid just like me. We had everything in common when it came to Epilepsy and Fear and that’s why we clicked. We both found comfort in each other knowing we weren’t alone. I encouraged her to not allow fear to define her, but to define it, and that’s exactly what she did. Watch below.

The reasoning for me sharing this with you is that I had an epiphany while watching this. I felt not strong enough these past few months. Everything that I shared with Sarah, I didn’t believe I represented at the time because of how weak I truly felt. With this video Sarah reminded me that yes, we all have tough moments in our lives — but that doesn’t mean we’re not strong. She reminded me of what I preached to her, through her sharing her story and HER preaching.

Today this a reminder to all of those who don’t feel strong enough to push through whatever you’re facing. You may not see the difference you’re making when you’re feeling down or upset, but trust me — your presence is valued and important. You have purpose and this is your reminder to never give up because you are wanted by many.  Thank you Sarah for encouraging not only your church or myself, but all of Fearless Movement’s readers as well. Thank you for showing that being fearless does not mean you don’t have fear, it means you have it, but you CHOOSE to fight back and to overcome it.

If you need a mentor or friend, Fearless Movement is always here in confidence of your privacy.
